The Best Fashion Boutiques In Jeju

With over 15 million tourists visiting each year, it’s no surprise that Jeju Island is chock-full of great shopping destinations. Fashion boutiques are clustered together in underground malls or side alleys and, given their tiny size, are best experienced by picking an area and combing though a number of shops. Here’s our guide to the best places to find your own little hidden gem.

1. Shilla Duty Free

The Jeju branch of this duty-free store is crammed full of designer and luxury brands; expect to find fashion and beauty boutiques from names such as Gucci, Bulgari and Chanel. As well as imported goods, Shilla Duty Free also has offerings from luxury Korean brands, and more modest beauty brands such as Banila Co. The top floor has a number of shops where you can buy Korean-themed souvenirs and food products. It’s best for luxury fashion shoppers.

2. Jungang Underground Shopping Centre

Jungang Underground Shopping Centre is Jeju Island’s only underground mall. It’s not especially high-end (think ajumma style) but interesting to visit, especially if you haven’t been to a Korean underground mall before. It has lots of cosmetics shops and cheap foods, and it’s often possible to haggle prices down in the smaller clothes boutiques. It’s good for bargain-hunters.

3. Chilsung Fashion Street

Chilsung Fashion Street is a short shopping street close to Dongmun Market, in Jeju’s city centre. It has a number of big brands (mostly sporty, such as Adidas and Tommy Hilfiger), cosmetics shops and smaller fashion boutiques that stock garments from local and Korean designers. It’s most popular with Jeju’s teenagers. Pop into cosy souvenir shop The Islander for unique handcrafted gifts. Chilsung Fashion Street is best for the young and young at heart.

4. Yeon-dong Shopping District

Yeon-dong Shopping District (also known as Jewon Saguri to locals) is one of the city’s liveliest retail areas. It’s jam-packed full of funky boutiques and independent shops, as well as medium- to high-priced brand outlets. It’s a good place to find unique fashion, and there are lots of restaurants and cafés in its pleasant, sculpture-decorated streets. Shops stay open late on Saturday evenings, when the area has an especially lively atmosphere. It’s best for fashionistas.

5. Si-cheong Shopping District

Shopping Mall

This area of Jeju is packed full of cheap, trendy boutiques and fashion outlets. It’s popular with younger teenagers and lunchtime shoppers, who flock to peruse its relatively (for Jeju!) cheaper establishments. Si-cheong is also home to a number of bars and the city’s largest concentration of foreign restaurants. It’s best for cheap and cheerful fashion.
